Meet Scott Silbert
A multiple woodwind player and arranger, Scott joined the Navy Commodores big band in 1991 on baritone sax, then in 1998 became the chief arranger for the United States Navy Band for fifteen years until his retirement in 2017. Prior to joining the Navy, he performed at Disney World for nine years. Silbert has been a featured soloist on many national and international concert tours, at the International Association of Jazz Educators Conference, the Saxophone Symposium, The Midwest Clinic, the Detroit -Montreux Jazz Festival, and at numerous local concert venues in the D.C area. Additionally, he performs with the prestigious Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, and has composed/arranged more than 200 works for the ensemble. Recently, he has stepped into the role of band leader with his own small group and big band, both ensembles being new favorites for the massive DCLX swing dance community. Scott’s first album as leader, Introducing the Scott Silbert Big Band: Jump Children, features some of the lesser performed big band works of the 1930’s and 40’s, and is now available on both CD as well as a complete digital download.

What they say
Loren Schoenberg
Bandleader/Historian/Founding Director of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem
If you need proof positive that revisiting the great classics of the Swing Era is always worth doing, Scott Silbert's new big band album will seal the deal. A great band always takes on the character of its leader, and Silbert's lifelong dedication to this music and his swinging saxophone playing is audible in every quarter note that this band swings. Bravo!
Charlie young
Artistic Director & Conductor, Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra
On this debut recording, Scott Silbert and his big band joyously reminisce in the classics. From the almost forgotten hits by the international Sweethearts of Rhythm, to the romp of "Tootsie's Rag," a Silbert original, Scott's Jump Children album covers a lot of swinging ground, beautifully.
